I received a bottle of Blue Fish as a Christmas gift from a co-worker. I was pleasantly surprised. Nice flavor! Not too sweet & not too dry...

It's interesting, I was in my local mega grocery store looking at wines. I'll admit I'm new to wine somewhat. My favorites tend to be Abor Mist for heaven's sake. But I've tried some Chardonnay and I wanted something sweeter, and based on a chart I read it said that Riesling was sweeter. So I was looking for one to try. I picked up a bottle of this and a bottle of Barefoot (it was on sale 2/$7 here in IL)

I tried this first and was not disappointed at all. I find it to be wonderful and fruity with just the right amount of bite to it. I am not sure what year mine is, but I found it to be rather good and a brand that I will look to in the future.

I can't read German so picking a good Riesling is challenging. I guess I really mean not so sweet. I usually buy this by the case because it's a safe bet. Clean crisp (cold) with subtle tropical fruit flavors and a little effervessence. Good stuff.

I had a great German riesling at Epcot, so I decided to take a leap and picked this one off the shelf. Blech. It had quite a bite to it. Very sharp. So sharp that I questioned my DH has to whether it had turned. I got no fruit tones at all out of it and would have dumped the bottle if I didn't really need a drink, LOL!

I tried a bottle of 2006 Blue Fish Riesling and found it less than appealing with a powerfully musty odor. I drank half a glass then dumped the rest of the bottle down the drain. Don't waste your money.

2005 Clean slate (not 2006) is a much better Riesling. 2006 Mirassou Monterey County Riesling is excellent.

These are my choices, but your mileage may vary.

Some find sweet German Riesling too sweet and some find dry German Riesling too tart. Doing a good Riesling is like walking a tight-rope of neither being too sweet nor too tart which we call "perfect balance".

Tried this on your recommendation and wasn't disappointed. To me, this wine had big acid, to the point of spritz, and was tart. But, after lots of overly-sweet cheap reislings, tart has a place. I'll buy more, maybe when I'm in the mood for a dry gewurtz, but don't want to pay the big $$.
