Leelanau Cellars Spring Splendor

Described as a “Premium Semi-Dry White Table Wine”, I didn’t really find anything dry or splendorous about it. This cheap Michigan wine was bland and tasted a little too much like flowers to me, not so much the apple and peach that the bottle describes.

On a positive note, Leelanau Cellars is a wonderful place. I was there this last summer. The vineyard was beautiful and the winemakers and employees that worked in the tasting room were very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend visiting if in the northern Michigan area. You can pick up a lot a good, cheap wine on a trip on the Leelanau Penninsula.

This wine is just not for me. I will look forward to trying some of their other selections. I don’t really have much more to say about this one. I could hardly finish the one glass I poured of it.

Rating: 4/10
Price: $4.99 at the vineyard
Enjoyed with: Another (better) bottle of wine

May I recommend our Tall Ship Chardonnay and Late Harvest Riesling? These are my favorite wines we make.

    Hi Dave –

I have to second the Autumn Harvest (I’m drinking a glass right now). Fruity and sweet with a not too acidic finish.. Very nice (and on sale at Meijer, 2/$8).

The outstanding wine at Lellenau Cellers is their Raspberry Port. There’s nothing like it on earth, and noting brings the summer to the fireside in February like a glass of this nectar. Try it!

Although i’m partial to South-West Michigan wines, the Tall-Ship Chardonnay is GREAT!!!!

I LOVE SPRING SPLENDOR!! Leelanau Cellars Spring Splendor and Great Lakes Red are PHENOMONAL WINES at PHENOMENAL prices! They are perfect for relaxing evenings in the summer or winter, and really bring you back to the easy going, Leelanau Penninsula state of mind. I am a hobby brewer, and will always hold a special place in my heart for all the Cellars’ wines.
